UP review!

Wow! Within the first 10 minutes of the film, I got more story than most of the films I have seen so far this year! I loved the Hell out of this film. This is high "up" there with the best pixar films since Finding Nemo. Its personally better than Wall-E because you fall in love with the character of Carl very early on and you love this mean old man. This film is just a great Exercise in storytelling. The film doesn't prepare you for the emotional punch that this film hits you with time and time again. This is a film that is so radically different than any animated film you have seen. I love the direction that Pixar is taking with their films since the Incredibles by making their films much more mature, but having enough visual and storytelling interest that will draw the younger audiences. This film just hits you so hard emotionally and comically that you are just going to love the hell out of this film. The story is stunningly emotional and its above all a great kid's and adventure film. The animation is great and the 3D was cool. The voice acting works. Talking about the voice acting, you can't not talk about the talking dogs. The talking dogs are so damn funny and they make the talking dog idea work in a way we have never seen before. Dug is obviously one of the best characters of the film and you can't help but easily fall in love with a character in this film. I also love that there is not a single pop culture reference in the whole film and the last 45 minutes are fantastic! Overall, this is one of the best pixar films of all time. The emotional impact is amazingly delivered. I love the overall message of the film! It's such a fantastic piece of film that it's got "classic" written all over it! I say it's a HIGH FULL-PRICE!! GO SEE THIS FILM! 2D or 3D the film is fantastic, hilarious, and emotional! This is one of the best films of 2009 and it's about time for an animated film to win best picture, thats how great this story is!

The ALIEN reboot news and The NEW Toy Story 3 Teaser Trailer! :)

Hey Guys!
It's been a slow week for updates in anything really. There are 2 big things that happened this week apart from the fact that I rented and beaten the shitty TERMINATOR SALVATION game, and I saw WOLVERINE and TERMINATOR again for free. I got to keep a CARL FREDRICKSON standee from pixar's UP from the movie theatre! Today UP opened and I would have had a review for it, but I really want to see it with my father because it definitely seems like we could get a big kick out of this one together and because he's the only person I'd want to be next to when the TOY STORY 3 trailer plays before the film :)

First off: ALIEN REBOOT!?

I believe that most franchises can be rebooted and everything can be improved upon, but there are a few exceptions. The Alien franchise is in desperate need of a reboot...but NOT THE FIRST 2 FILMS! Ridley Scott's ALIEN (1979) and James Cameron's ALIENS (1986) are modern cinema classics! To this day they are looked upon as SCI-FI staples and they still stand up well to today's standards. They are on the caliber of Sci-Fi influence today as The Day The Earth Stood Still was back in the 1950's. Alien and Aliens have no need to be remade at all, but something needs to be done to reinvigorate these characters and make em scary again. I like how FOX is taking the PREDATOR reboot with Robert Rodriquez at the helm to write and Direct, but I wish they wouldn't do it with the Alien franchise to a certain extent. I want this creature to be scary again, but I don't want to regate the first 2 films as they are classics, but this is too good of a mythology to let waste with. A lot of people are giving shit because a Music Video Director Carl Rinsch is given the reins and doesn't have any credibility. I want people to keep in mind that the great Ridley Scott started off as a music video director too and that his breakout and first film was ALIEN (1979) so I don't think the director is something to worry. Good news is that Ridley Scott is involved with the project :) Finally, the father is back to lead the future! But the bad news is...Its still 20TH CENTURY FOX! I want this reboot to rock because it's about damn time the alien enjoys his time in the limelight or SHADOWS for that matter! Hopefully this can be good. Good or bad this film will not touch the first two Alien films as they are sitting on store shelves (and I desperately need to buy as well). I say carry on, but I reserve the right to not like the film.

Next....:)

TOY STORY 3 TEASER TRAILER!!
I can hear that classic Randy Newman song playing in my head continuously as I wait anxiously for this movie to come out. First off, the film looks exactly how it is supposed to! Visually it is in line with the first couple of films and the art style has remained fairly the same! Which is fantastic! I was worried that the new animation would stick out far apart from the past films, but there is just small minor upgrades in parts of the character models. Nothing real noticeable. Best way I can describe it is like seeing another game series on a console. Not to bait the console wars, but it's almost like going from HALO to HALO 2 graphics, while better in part 2, are still just refinements from part 1. Overall, the teaser looks great! Another aspect I loved about the trailer is that it still has that loving sense of humor that the first 2 films had within every frame! I feel the soul of the series has still been maintained even though it has been 14 years since the first film came out and 10 years since the last film came out. It still feels like that Toy Story film that would have come out all those years ago! I felt like a little boy again watchin this trailer and I can't wait to see the shine on my dad's face as he sees this trailer in the theatre with me and he has no knowledge this film is even in production :D I can't wait to see his eyes light up! Toy Story was the first film we both saw together twice in theatres, so this is a big deal for both of us! Overall, I loved the teaser trailer! I can;t wait for June 10, 2010 to come! :)Be sure to check out the Teaser Trailer to the film HERE! :)

Woody and Buzz! I can't wait to see ya guys up on the big screen again! :) My childhood is back again :)

Hopefully in the next few days I'll have a review of UP (2009) and Sam Riami's Drag Me to Hell (2009) soon!

Until next time, here's my 2 cents!

My Top 5 Favorite Trailers of All Time!

Hey guys! With the summer blockbuster season already starting up again. We have something to look forward to once again...TRAILERS! So I'd thought I'd share my picks for my all-time favorites!
ENJOY!
#5. Watchmen Trailer 1

I remember watching this trailer that magical night I saw the Dark Knight. I was blown away. It was the Watchmen comic adaptation that I had always wanted to see but was afraid I'd never get. Its a great piece to get audiences in. I talked to a bunch of people that read the comic because of this trailer. The best use of a SMASHING PUMPKIN's song in a trailer. CHECK IT OUT!!!!

I remember seeing this trailer in a computer screen with the sound off when I was a kid and I was so taken away!!!! I LOVED IT! This trailer and this movie...is what got me into comic books! I owe a debt to this trailer for getting me excited for comics and what magic they can possess. The only familiarity I had with Spider-Man was the 90's TV series, and based off of that, I knew Sam Riami had gotten this absolutely right! I remember watchin this trailer over and over at my cousin Luis' house and He hated me watchin this every time! AWESOME AWESOME TRAILER!!! Sets up the movie very well and it's spirit.
PS: Check out the awesome
Original Banned Teaser Trailer that was taken down due to 9-11! THIS TRAILER WOULD HAVE GOTTEN MORE PEOPLE HYPED UP FOR THIS!!! As it says "It will take you for the ULTIMATE RIDE!!!"

After suffering through some terrible Batman movies and a Batman dead-zone of 8 years, i thought this trailer KICKED MAJOR ASS!!!! The teaser told you, they were going to take it seriously and make it kickass, but I was still a bit skeptical. This trailer made me think "ok, they got this down" and I could already tell this was gonna be the best BATMAN movie....b4 Dark Knight of course :) AWESOME AWESOME TRAILER!!! BATMAN WAS FINALLY SCARY AND THANKS TO THIS TRAILER!!!

OK, WHO DOESN'T FIND THIS TRAILER FUCKIN BADASS!!!! This gets u hyped up b4 they even show you one single frame from the film. It stands alone as it's own short film and it fuckin rocks hard. Its a perfect trailer to a great film! CHECK IT OUT!!!

OK...very few trailers had the particular effect this one did on me. I saw this trailer as a bootleg on youtube shot wit a video cam before I AM LEGEND started...and GODDAMN WAS MY JAW ON THE FLOOR!!!! Even in that degraded state this trailer fuckin ROCKED MY SHIT!!!!! The trailer started off great and hearing Heath's Joker laugh for the first time clearly was awesome, then came the Joker close-ups and OMG was I amazed! THE JOKER WAS FUCKIN SCARY IN THIS AND IT FUCKIN RULED!!!! I couldn't speak after i saw the trailer! THIS PROMISED MORE THAN THE LAST AND GAVE ME NO DOUBT THAT IT WAS GOING TO DELIVER MORE THAN THE LAST FILM!!! GODDAMN THIS IS A PERFECT TRAILER!!!!

Here ya guy! Hope ya liked these and heres my 2 cents once again!

Terminator Salvation!

Ok, so I have been waiting for a new Terminator film for the past 18 years of my life since the last one Terminator 2 came out in 1991. Note that I said Terminator 2 was the last one, not fucking Terminator 3 from back in 2003. Terminator 3 was a shit storm of an action movie that just didn't work. I couldn't connect to it or care about any of the characters. Terminator 3 left me speechless in the sense that now the franchise was going down and no hope of light at the end of the tunnel. I hated what the third film stood for which was sucking the tit from James Cameron's masterful creation. That movie just didn't work and it wasn't as deep as any of the films that had come before it and it just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Now the news of the director of the Charlie's Angels movies was at the helm to direct the next Terminator film? I cried that this film was going to suck balls. Then I heard that my all-time favorite actor Christian Bale had signed on to play John Connor. Hook line and sinker, I was going to see this film no matter what. That was about a year and half ago. Which brings us to now!
The trailers for this film got better and better. It showed that this had potential to be awesome. I got the see the film after much debacles and mix-ups, but I finally got to see it at a packed 10pm screening on Thursday night! Needless to say...I DUG IT ALOT! I thought that this film was spot on the action sequences. This one definitely has more action than T3, but T3's action set pieces seemed very forced and were terribly edited. Terminator Salvation's set pieces seemed to fit together in more of the grand scheme of the way the action fit into the first two films. Is it any better or as good as the first two? Not by a mile unfortunately. But that is not to say that this is a bad film by any stretch. Far from the turd that was T3.
The basic premise of this film follows John Connor's search for Kyle Reese (true fans will know their relationship) and his rise in the resistance to attaining that symbol of hope for the future as was told in the last 3 films, while we also follow a death-row inmate named Marcus Wright, who was put to death in 2003 and wakes up in the post apocalyptic world. The plot of the film had more meat on the bones than did T3. T3 was just a rehash of T2 in every respect. Salvation feels like it's own thing now. It feels as if it is paying respect to the original films and it is merely trying to build upon those moments in the future that were only glimpses at. This is it's own animal. They are not trying to outdo Cameron, simply pay tribute to his films. The acting this ok. There are Three stand-outs from the film. Christian Bale as John Connor was awesome, but he was kind of one note. It seemed as if he played the role a bit too badass and rough. With that said, he was an awesome John Connor. He does not feel as weak as the previous ones and does a very suitable job with the role. This is the future and hard-edged John Connor and Bale pulls it off. But he wasn't my favorite role in the film. This is turning into Anton Yelchin's breakout summer with this and Star Trek. As he did in Star Trek, he nails a role that was loved by many and does an awesome job and gives a very loving and respectful portrayal of Michael Biehn's role in T1. You feel for this character as he is trying to survive and how he came to become who he was in the first Terminator.
The real standout in this film and I guarantee he will be the next big thing is Sam Worthington! He fucking does a fantastic job with the role of Marcus Wright! I loved his character and the angle they decided to play it off with in the mid-point of the film. Marcus was the one character I connected to and just wanted to see more of and he steals this picture from Christian, and that is a tough act to pull as a newcomer. So kudos to Sam! He's got this, James Cameron's AVATAR (2009) due out in Christmas!, and the remake of Clash of the Titans coming out, it is no doubt that he will be the next big thing and all I can say is bring it on Sam!
In terms of the directing, McG does a surprising job with the film. It is clearly lacking in the direction at times and it feels as if he could have helped tone his actors a bit more in some scenes, but he did a much better job with the film than Jonathan Mostow did with the last film as you can smell it from a mile that McG can handle himself with this material better and I am glad that he can, cause he made one badass of a Terminator Flick.
Overall, this film was an awesome ride. This is on it's way to being one of my favorite films of the summer. It was badass! It was everything it needed to be to breath some life into this series that was flatlining after Terminator 3. Terminator 3 nearly killed the franchise, and this film Salvaged it. While the ending was a bit of a stretch, and seemed a bit off, I took it. This is the Terminator film that I wanted with Terminator 3, but it is not perfect. This film has a couple of flaws to it in terms of some of the acting and the script, but it was a thrill-ride and I had a shitton of fun with it! I'd give this one a HIGH FULL PRICE! Definitely a worthy entry into the franchise! This film is clearly made by people who love the Terminator Mythos and get it. Lots of references for the die-hard fans that will just eat this film up! I love the direction this series is heading with this arc. Fun time at the movies and killer summer action flick!

Till next time, Heres my 2 cents! Enjoy the flick and have a great memorial day weekend!

"Watson...what have you done?" NEW Sherlock Holmes Trailer!

Hey Guys!
I wanted to mention this really quickly! The new trailer for Guy Ritche's Sherlock Holmes (2009) has just been posted up by Warner Bros. I've gotta say, I'm actually looking forward to this. Robert Downey, Jr as Sherlock Holmes and Jude Law as Watson with Guy Ritchie directing? I am in! Having seen this trailer, it looks good. The trailer sets up that this a different take on Sherlock Holmes than ever envisioned. It seems as if Downey is re-inventing the role to make it his own. He looks like as if the film is taking liberties with Sherlock Holmes as Johnny Depp and crew did with Captain Jack Sparrow in making this action film more comedic in tone with a promise of good action to come. Lastly and most importantly, this film really does feel like a Guy Ritchie film in tone. The film looks and sounds like Guy Ritchie and is recognizably so.
Overall, I really look forward to this film and the trailer has me sold! I am there! You can check out the trailer this weekend with TERMINATOR SALVATION (2009) this weekend or you can check the trailer out in flash or various other formats below!

I'd say this is a great time to be Robert Downey, Jr!

So, I am gonna catch some R and R before I pick up the new Skynet Blu-ray Edition of TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY and thats going to be awesome!

New poster for NEW MOON

Hey guys! Here's my first 2 cents!
Literally, about 5 minutes ago, the new poster for the Upcoming film THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON (2009) due for release November 20,2009 hit the internet by Summit Pictures. Following on the footsteps of the first hit film Twilight (2008) this sequel has a lot to live up to by it's fan-base, while the film received a lukewarm reaction from critics. With some background on my experiences with Twilight, I hate what they did with "vampires" by making them shine in daylight because effectively what is done is that these vampires are created to be unstoppable and where is the conflict for them in the story? I know I am going to get a lot of flack for saying this, but this type of vampire is going to be more concerned with what hair-style they are going to "shine" in today. But, I do have a respect for the series for trying to tell a vampire romance story, but it just needs something extra to make to special. I saw the film, I got some entertainment out of it. I didn't think it was bad and I wanted to hate the shit out of it, but I just have some gripes and I am ok with it. It doesn't piss me off as Love Guru (2008)does (but I'll save that for a future rant), but I can sit through them and find some cool aspects. I'm ok with the series, and I understand it is very flawed with gaps.
Enough of my reactions to the first film, my first reaction to this post was somewhat of an "This is an ok poster" My problem with the poster is that it looks too much like a "fan-poster." The problem with this is that millions of fans of the Twilight series have created numerous fan posters before a single frame of the first film was shown. This looks like another fan-poster. The use of the sepia-tone is one of the more amateur things you can use in photoshop. Sepia tone is great, but it just feels like everything I had seen before.
My other problem with the poster is that it looks like the filmmakers are trying to market this as a Underworld (2003) rip off with the whole fact of a human caught in between a feud between "Vampires" and "Werewolves" and it just seems as if they are trying to catch that fan-base with the poster. That is fine from a business angle, but it also misleading in the fact that it isn't going to be that. People are going to be expecting these two guys to fight like two dogs and they aren't. I can already see the negative word of mouth building upon this poster.
With all the negatives out of the way, what this poster does really well is set up the fact that this taking a different direction in terms of a love-interest and what the conflict of the story seems to be. It gives the main jist of the story in a panel and that's what a good poster should do. Theres my two cents on this poster. I know the fan-girls are going to feel that tingle when they see this poster. I am going to be seeing this film at some point and I'm ok with it. Overall, the poster is ok. Just have to wait until the movies comes out!

The First Post!

It's Andres!
Your Friend and humble newcomer to the blogosphere! I decided to take it upon myself to give my two cents to some of the new entertainment news that has been going on. First off, I want to start off with some of the current events in the news. So with that said, I don't believe in absolutism. I have an opinion and I understand everyone else will have an opinion. I actually like to be wrong or have someone change my mind because I don't believe in being closed minded. I want to expand my mind, if you have an opposing opinion, I'd love to hear it. I do not claim to know more than anyone else, but I do love to comment on random ass things and I'll drop a line for my films here and there. With that said, if you enjoy rants, vulgarities, and an opionion on random ass facts by Some Random Spanish dude? Then sit back and enjoy. I will post as often as I can and bring you my two cents every now and again!

Enjoy Guys!
